Naruto NYCC 2026: Ninkū Crossover Revealed, No Movie Announcement

Naruto's October 10, 2026 New York Comic Con panel revealed a four-episode Naruto × Ninkū crossover anime, Project Rasengan and a teaser for a new Naruto manga by Masashi Kishimoto. Despite pre-event reporting that a theatrical Naruto film might be announced, VIZ's official post-event recap did not announce a new movie.

The earlier Naruto movie story was a pre-event report, not a confirmed announcement. VIZ's October 10 recap identifies the crossover anime, the franchise roadmap and a manga teaser. It provides no theatrical movie title, release date or production announcement. This article has been updated to reflect what the panel actually revealed.

What did Naruto announce at NYCC 2026?

The Naruto: What's Next? stage took place at New York Comic Con on October 10, 2026, Naruto Uzumaki's birthday. VIZ confirmed a four-episode Naruto × Ninkū crossover anime, Project Rasengan, a worldwide June 2027 Naruto Card Game launch and a teaser for a new manga project.

Japanese voice actors Junko Takeuchi (Naruto) and Noriaki Sugiyama (Sasuke) appeared alongside PIERROT FILMS executive producer Yoshihiro Tominaga. Their appearance was part of the event, not evidence of an unannounced theatrical film.

Was a new Naruto anime movie announced?

No. A movie announcement was reported as a possibility before the event, but VIZ's official October 10 press release does not announce a theatrical Naruto film. The confirmed new anime is a four-episode Naruto × Ninkū crossover.

VIZ confirmed that the new anime is a crossover between Naruto and Ninkū, supervised by Naruto creator Masashi Kishimoto and Ninkū creator Koji Kiriyama. The event introduced a collaboration visual and teaser trailer.

What is the Naruto × Ninkū crossover?

The four-episode anime brings together two shinobi series. VIZ describes it as a completely new crossover, with both manga creators supervising the story. Its format is an announced four-episode anime, not a confirmed feature film.

Ninkū was a major influence on Naruto, according to the official event recap. The collaboration is therefore a franchise milestone in its own right, separate from the pre-event speculation about a new Naruto movie.

What story will the Naruto × Ninkū anime tell?

The teaser establishes the Naruto × Ninkū collaboration, but VIZ's official recap does not provide a full plot synopsis or episode-by-episode details. Any specific arc, timeline or release schedule remains unconfirmed.

The crossover should not be confused with a new Boruto season, a standalone Naruto theatrical film or the previously delayed Naruto anniversary episodes. No official announcement has identified those projects as the same production.

Which studio is producing the Naruto crossover?

VIZ's event recap does not explicitly identify an animation studio for the four-episode crossover. Studio Pierrot's historical involvement with Naruto and its work on a separate card-game trailer should not be taken as confirmation of the crossover's production credits.

PIERROT FILMS executive producer Yoshihiro Tominaga appeared at the panel. That participation is confirmed, but the crossover's full staff and production schedule should be checked against a separate official production announcement.

When will Naruto × Ninkū be released?

The official October 10 VIZ recap does not announce a premiere date or streaming schedule for the four-episode crossover. A date should not be inferred from the panel itself.

VIZ did confirm that the Naruto Card Game is scheduled for worldwide release in June 2027. That date belongs to the card game, not the crossover anime. Project Rasengan is a separate long-term franchise initiative.

What else did Naruto reveal at NYCC?

Project Rasengan was introduced as a multiyear global initiative connecting future Naruto and Boruto manga, anime, games and collaborations. The roadmap includes further announcements rather than a confirmed theatrical film release.

The panel also teased a new Naruto manga by Masashi Kishimoto. VIZ confirmed the manga teaser but did not provide a publication date in its October 10 recap. The delayed anniversary episodes were not presented as the newly announced crossover.

What is actually confirmed after the panel?

Confirmed: a four-episode Naruto × Ninkū crossover supervised by both creators; Project Rasengan; a June 2027 worldwide Naruto Card Game launch; and a teaser for a new Naruto manga. These announcements are documented in VIZ's October 10, 2026 press release.

Not confirmed at this panel: a new standalone Naruto theatrical movie, a movie release date, or a movie studio. Earlier articles predicting a movie announcement should now be read as pre-event speculation, not as the result of NYCC 2026.

The takeaway is that NYCC 2026 delivered a crossover anime and a broader Naruto franchise roadmap, not the anticipated theatrical movie announcement. Any future film should be reported separately once official sources confirm it.
