Attack on Titan Day 2026 has delivered a much larger anniversary campaign than a single livestream. The franchise published 99 updates tied to September 9, including new Hajime Isayama artwork, an official Attack on Titan YouTube channel, a 99-hour free manga campaign, new game material, collaborations and plans to bring two Attack on Titan films back to Japanese theaters in premium formats.

The biggest takeaway for anime fans is also what was not announced: the official Attack on Titan Day material does not confirm a new TV season or sequel anime. Instead, the celebration focuses on keeping the completed series active through theatrical returns, new video channels, events, merchandise, games and international collaborations.

What Is Attack on Titan Day?

The Japan Anniversary Association has formally recognized September 9 as Attack on Titan Day. The date is not arbitrary: Hajime Isayama’s manga began serialization in the inaugural issue of Kodansha’s Bessatsu Shonen Magazine on September 9, 2009.

That gives the franchise a permanent anniversary tied directly to the beginning of the manga. The commemorative visual leans heavily into the number nine, using the Nine Titans and the September 9 date as its central motif. A dedicated Attack on Titan Day logo also appears on the artwork.

Attack on Titan Day 2026 Livestream and 99 Announcements

The special Attack on Titan Day livestream was scheduled for September 9, 2026 at 9:30 p.m. JST, or 6:00 p.m. IST in India, with Yuki Kaji, Yui Ishikawa and Hiro Shimono. Alongside the broadcast, the official Attack on Titan portal organized the anniversary around 99 separate pieces of franchise news rather than one headline reveal.

Three familiar cast members are scheduled to appear: Yuki Kaji, the Japanese voice of Eren Yeager; Yui Ishikawa, the voice of Mikasa Ackerman; and Hiro Shimono, the voice of Connie Springer.

The official 99-news page makes the scope clearer. The announcements span screenings, merchandise, collaborations, games, exhibitions, international projects and new franchise channels. Fans expecting a direct continuation of the anime should separate those confirmed projects from speculation: no new TV season or sequel anime has been announced as part of the campaign.

99 Attack on Titan Chapters Will Be Free for 99 Hours

Kodansha is also using the number nine for a limited reading campaign. Starting at midnight JST on September 9, the Magazine Pocket app will make the first 99 chapters of Attack on Titan available free for 99 hours.

The campaign runs until September 13 at 2:59 a.m. JST. It covers a substantial portion of the 139-chapter manga, making the anniversary useful for readers who want to revisit the original version of the story or compare major scenes with the anime adaptation.

Hajime Isayama Drew New Eren, Levi and Erwin Art

The celebration also includes newly drawn artwork by Hajime Isayama. The illustration features Eren, Levi and Erwin in formal clothing and will appear on merchandise released through Magazine Shop beginning September 9.

That is separate from the main Attack on Titan Day visual, which focuses on the Nine Titans and the 9/9 anniversary identity. The merchandise therefore gives fans both a franchise-wide commemorative design and genuinely new character artwork from the manga’s creator.

Did Attack on Titan Day Announce a New Anime?

No new Attack on Titan TV season or sequel anime has been confirmed in the official Attack on Titan Day 2026 announcements. The original manga is complete and the anime has already adapted its central story, so the franchise is currently expanding through rereleases, events, games, collaborations and other projects rather than announcing a continuation of the main plot.

That does not mean Attack on Titan has stopped producing animation-related material. Koei Tecmo’s Attack on Titan 3 game received a new opening-animation key visual created by MAPPA, while the anniversary also gives the franchise a dedicated official YouTube channel for limited-time anime streams and exclusive videos. Those projects should not be mislabeled as a new anime series.

For now, the most concrete anime-facing announcements are the theatrical returns of earlier Attack on Titan films, the new official video channel and MAPPA’s work connected to Attack on Titan 3. Any future anime project would need its own official announcement.

What Are the Biggest Attack on Titan Day 2026 Announcements?

The official portal’s 99-update campaign is deliberately broad, but several announcements stand out. Attack on Titan Part 1: Guren no Yumiya returns to Japanese theaters on October 23, 2026 in ScreenX, 4DX and Ultra 4DX formats. Attack on Titan THE LAST ATTACK is also planned for premium-format screenings in 2027, including its first ScreenX release.

The franchise also launched its official YouTube channel, released a special Nine Titans commemorative visual and logo, published new celebratory artwork by Hajime Isayama, opened the first 99 manga chapters free for 99 hours on Magazine Pocket, and announced numerous merchandise, event and international collaboration projects. Taken together, Attack on Titan Day is less a sequel announcement than a new annual platform for keeping the franchise active after the ending.
